Free QR code generator

Most free QR generators route your code through their own domain, which means the code stops working when they do, and they can count every scan. This one encodes your content directly into the code in your browser. Nothing is registered, nothing expires and nothing is counted — download the PNG for screens or the SVG for anything that gets printed.

What should the code do?

Pick a kind, fill in the fields, and the preview keeps up as you type.

No need for https:// — we add it. A shorter address makes a coarser, easier-to-scan code.

How it should look

These settings are remembered in this browser. What you type into the form above is not.

The exact pixel size of the PNG. For print, take the SVG instead and scale it there.

The empty border around the code. Scanners use it to find where the pattern starts.

Error correction

Medium — about 15%. The usual choice: still compact, forgiving of a scuff or a fingerprint.

Preview

Type an address and the code appears here. Scanning it opens that page.

PNG for screens, SVG for print — the SVG stays sharp at any size.

QR Code Generator runs entirely in this browser — nothing you type is sent to us or stored anywhere. Scan the preview with your phone to check it before you print it.

Questions about this tool

Will this QR code expire or stop working?

No. Your content is encoded into the pattern itself, so the code points straight at your link with nothing of ours in between. Codes that expire are dynamic ones: they encode a short URL on the provider's domain that redirects, which is what lets them count scans and what breaks when the provider shuts the link off.

Should I download the PNG or the SVG?

PNG for anything on a screen, SVG for anything printed. An SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size — on a poster, a business card or a shop window. A PNG scaled up in print goes soft at the module edges, and soft edges are what make a scanner fail.

Why will my code not scan?

Usually contrast or size. Dark-on-light is what scanners expect, and inverting it stops many of them working — this tool warns you when your colours are too close to read. Otherwise it is size: keep the code at least 2cm across in print, and leave the quiet zone around it clear rather than cropping to the edge of the pattern.

Is it safe to make a Wi-Fi QR code here?

The code is built in your browser and your password is never sent to us — this page makes no network request while you use it. It is not stored in your browser either: the tool deliberately remembers your settings but not your content. Do bear in mind that anyone who can photograph the finished code can read the password from it.
