Terms & conditions

The agreement between you and Bunfolio: what we provide, what we expect from you, and where each side’s responsibility ends.

This agreement

These terms are the agreement between you and [[COMPANY LEGAL NAME]], registered at [[REGISTERED ADDRESS]], for the use of Bunfolio. By signing in or publishing a site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of this agreement.

What Bunfolio is

Bunfolio turns a short questionnaire into a one-page portfolio website. You sign in with Google — which is also when we set you up with a subdomain, so you never have to invent an address before you can publish — then answer the wizard, or paste a public LinkedIn profile to prefill it, pick one of our templates, and we publish your site on a subdomain we host. You can rename that subdomain, edit your content and republish whenever you like, and you can unpublish at any time.

You get one site per account. Templates are ours and finished: you choose between them and your content moves across unchanged, but there is no page builder and no theme editor.

The service is free. There is no billing in the product, no plan to upgrade, no card to enter and nothing to cancel. If we ever introduce paid features, we will publish terms for them before charging anyone for anything.

Who may use it

You must be at least [[MINIMUM AGE]] years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use Bunfolio for a company or a client, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for them.

We may decline or close signups at our discretion — for instance when registrations are temporarily closed.

Your account

Access to your Bunfolio account runs through your Google account, so keeping that secure is what keeps your site secure. Everything done through your account is treated as done by you.

Do not share your account, and tell us at [[CONTACT EMAIL]] if you think someone else has got into it.

Your content

Your content stays yours. Your words, images, projects and client quotes belong to you, and publishing them here does not transfer any ownership to us.

What you do give us is the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, to show it on your published site to anyone who visits, to resize and process images for display, and to send text you enter to our AI provider so it can draft and edit your site copy. That permission lasts as long as your content is on our systems and ends when you delete it.

You are telling us, for everything you publish, that:

  • you own it, or you have permission from whoever does;
  • you may show the client work, logos and brand names you have put on the page;
  • anyone quoted in a testimonial actually said it and is happy to be named;
  • photographs of other people are used with their agreement;
  • publishing it breaks no law, contract or confidentiality obligation you are under.

If you cannot say all of that about a piece of content, leave it off the site.

AI-generated copy

Bunfolio drafts your site copy with an AI model, and every AI draft is a starting point rather than a finished text. Models get things wrong, overstate, and occasionally invent detail that was never in your answers — particularly around numbers, dates and client names.

Read what it produced before you publish, and edit it until it is accurate. Once published, the words on your site are yours: you are responsible for them, not the model that suggested them. AI features also depend on a third-party service, so they may be slow or unavailable, and the rest of the product keeps working when they are.

Acceptable use

Bunfolio exists so freelancers can show their work. Do not use it to:

  • publish anything unlawful, or content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy;
  • pass off other people’s work as your own portfolio;
  • impersonate another person, business or brand, or imply an endorsement you do not have;
  • publish harassing, hateful, threatening or sexually explicit material, or anything involving minors inappropriately;
  • run malware, phishing pages, scams, fake stores or misleading crypto and investment offers;
  • send spam through the contact form, or use a published site to distribute bulk unsolicited messages;
  • attack, probe or overload our infrastructure, break access controls, or try to reach another user’s account or data;
  • scrape the service at scale, or resell hosting on it as if it were your own product;
  • work around technical limits such as upload size caps, rate limits or the reserved username list.

Usernames and subdomains

Your username becomes your web address, so it has to be unique and it has to be free. Some names are reserved by the platform and can never be claimed — among them www, app, api, admin, mail, blog, help, support, demo, dashboard, login, register, static, assets and cdn.

We give you a username automatically when you first sign in, worked out from your name — or your email address if that does not produce anything usable — with a number on the end if it is already taken. It is a starting point, not a decision: change it in your website settings whenever you like. Changing it changes your web address, and the old one stops working straight away.

A username is a licence to use an address on our domain, not property you own, and it does not transfer to you. We may reclaim or change one that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, is deliberately offensive, or is being used to break these terms. Where the situation allows it, we will contact you first.

Using your own domain

You can also serve your site on a domain you own. You add it in your website settings and point its DNS at the hostname we show you; we check the DNS, and once it resolves to us we serve your published site there. This is free, like the rest of the service.

The domain is yours, and so is everything about keeping it: registering it, paying to renew it, and getting its DNS records right. We do not register, buy, transfer or renew domains for you, and we have no access to your registrar account. Until the DNS check passes we serve nothing on the domain — typing it into the form does not, by itself, give you any claim to it. Connect a domain only if you actually control it.

Your subdomain is unaffected by any of this. It keeps working while a domain is connected, and it carries on working if you disconnect one, let it expire, or move it elsewhere — so your site does not go dark because something happened at your registrar. We may also stop serving a connected domain if it stops pointing at us, if someone else establishes a better claim to it, or if it is being used to break these terms.

Our platform and our designs

The Bunfolio application, its source code, its templates and the design work in them — layout, typography, colour systems, motion and the sample content we ship for demonstration — belong to us or to our licensors. So do the Bunfolio name and logo.

While your account is open, you may use our templates to publish and share your own site. That is the whole of the licence: it does not let you copy, resell or rebuild a template as your own product or as part of another service, strip it out for use elsewhere, or use our name and logo as if we endorsed you.

Messages your site receives

The contact form on your published site collects a name, an email address and a message, and we store them so you can read them on your leads page. Those enquiries are addressed to you, not to us.

That makes them your responsibility. Use them to reply to the person who wrote to you; do not add senders to a marketing list they never asked for, and handle their details in line with whatever data protection law applies to you. We may apply rate limits to the form to keep spam down.

Availability, and the absence of a warranty

We work to keep Bunfolio up, but this is a free service and we do not promise an uptime figure. We may take the platform down for maintenance, change how features work, add or remove them, or discontinue the service. For a change that materially affects published sites, we will give notice where we reasonably can.

The service is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind — no promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI output will be accurate, that a LinkedIn import will succeed, or that it will fit a particular purpose you have in mind.

Keep your own copy of anything you would hate to lose. Your portfolio content should not exist only on our servers.

Suspension and termination

You can stop whenever you want: unpublish your site to take it offline, or ask us at [[CONTACT EMAIL]] to delete your account. Deletion also removes your portfolio, your projects, your visit statistics and the contact messages your site received, and it cannot be undone.

We may unpublish a site, suspend an account, or delete one where these terms are being broken, where we are legally required to, or where a site is putting the platform or other users at risk. Serious cases — illegal content, attacks on the platform — may be actioned immediately and without notice. Otherwise we will normally warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost clients, lost or corrupted content, damage to reputation, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Bunfolio — including from downtime, from inaccurate AI output, or from content you chose to publish.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Because Bunfolio is provided free of charge, where a cap on our total liability is permitted it is the lowest amount the applicable law allows.

You agree to cover us for third-party claims that arise from content you published or from your breach of these terms — for example a copyright complaint about work on your site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product develops. The current version always sits on this page with its date at the top, and we will notify account holders of material changes. If you keep using Bunfolio after a change takes effect, you are accepting the updated terms; if you would rather not, delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [[GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION]], and disputes arising from them go to the courts of [[GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION]]. Mandatory consumer protections in your own country of residence still apply to you.

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term straight away does not mean we have given it up.

For anything about these terms, write to [[CONTACT EMAIL]], or to [[COMPANY LEGAL NAME]], [[REGISTERED ADDRESS]].
